A Structural Engineer's top priority is always safety, but a close second needs to be economical solutions. We believe that engineers have a duty to their clients to find creative solutions to project challenges. Some may feel that there is a tug-of-war between safe, durable structures and construction cost, but with careful design and a little innovative thinking both Safety and Economy can be in balance.
With all construction projects, time is of the essence. Clients need as quick of timelines as possible to meet their project goals. However, without the proper preparation, quality is often lost at the expense of time. At Balanced Structural Engineering, we use in house templates, programs, and standards that we developed over the last decade to make design quicker, without sacrificing quality. We make sure we give our clients realistic timelines right from the start so they can best manage their projects and we can ensure we provide quality engineered structural designs.
Advanced engineering theory can work wonders for problem solving and innovation, but it can also make an otherwise simple project very complicated. At the end of the day, what clients need is a design that works in reality (not just on paper!) and meets local code requirements. BSE balances advanced analysis (when a project requires a "sharper pencil") with tried and true design methods and detailing practices to produce practical designs that are code compliant and constructible.
